The Irish Malone Family is an ancient sept, known in Gaelic as O Maoil Eoin, meaning descendant of a servant or devotee of Saint John, maol being Irish for bald and referring to the distinctive hairstyle sported by the Irish monks. The sept has certainly lived up to its name, in maintaining close associations with the ecclesiastical orders, producing many Bishops and Abbots, in particular, its connection with the Abbey of Clonmacnois. The surname is rarely seen today with its prefix O'.

Usability Upgrades

 

You may notice that there are a few changes to the site. The Blog and revised Guestbook were key to maintaining an up to date site while minimizing the effort we need to put into managing spam and quick announcements. However, these features we primarily added to allow us to bring you a better site. Two other changes we are pleased to announce are focused on you the user and how you interact with our site. Each page now has two new items below the family crest.

 

The first is an image that when clicked will take you to a main search page. We were having issues with the placement of our search bar due to the introduction of wide screen monitors which I am sure some of you experienced. This new method will allow all visitors to browse the site without needing to resize their window. Our next upgrade is something we’ve wanted for a long time but never got to. Each page now has a Jump Menu with all the surnames listed. This will allow you to more quickly jump to a name no matter where you are on the site.

 

We hope you are as excited about these upgrades as we are. Please let us know if you encounter any problems.

New Malone Family Directory Blog!

 

In keeping with the times, we are pleased to announce the launch of our Blog. We hope the blog will become a key piece of our site. We'll be able to share information more quickly with the new addition. It's in it's early stages so we'll see where it ends up taking us. Please let us know what you think.
